Diffusion; An Exhibition of Unconventional Photography

Join us at Springbox gallery to celebrate the photography featured in Diffusion; Unconventional Photography, Volume II, a photographic annual produced in Portland, Or. At the Box we are showcasing the work from the Diffusion featured artists and Outside the Box we are featuring selected works by other Diffusion contributors in combination with Springbox gallery photographers.

Various Diffusion artists and contributors will be in attendance and available to sign copies of the publication.

Outside the Box: Selected works from Diffusion contributors Aline Smithson, Phil Nesmith, Zeb Andrews, Diana Bloomfield, J Swofford, Michael Van der Tol, Danielle Hughson, along with Springbox photographers Matt Flagg, Ryan Courter, Aaron Van de Graeff, Tom Schutyser, Gilles Neuray and Caitlin Leonard.

Artist Talk with Louviere+Vanessa – July 10th, 1:00 PM

Jeff Louviere and Vanessa Brown have been collaborating artistically as Louviere + Vanessa since 2004. Bringing together Louviere’s background in painting and printmaking and Brown’s experience with photography, the artists take a multidisciplinary approach to making photographs and films. Their surreal images make reference to dreams, memories and imagined narratives. They often scratch, bury or otherwise distress their negatives, layering their images with alternative materials such as blood, wax and gold.

Louviere + Vanessa’s work has been shown in over 50 shows and film festivals including the Postdam International Film Festival in Germany and the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Their work is included in the prestigious collections of the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the George Eastman House. The couple lives and works in New Orleans and are represented by A Gallery For Fine Photography.(agallery.com).

2009 Diffusion Gala & Art Exhibition

The Gallery Exhibition featured Diffusion artists Zeb Andrews, Sika Stanton and Jeffrey Baker as well as other unconventional photography from other local photographers including Buzzy Sullivan, Brienne Stekly, Andrea Galluzzo, & the TTVPDX (Through the Viewfinder, Portland) traveling group show.

Thanks to all the Gala attendees and contributors, the event was a huge success!
